Junte Boricua runs from May 1 – August 31, 2024.

TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico (“TOTE”), a premier ocean carrier shipping between Jacksonville, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto Rico, is pleased to announce its sponsorship of Junte Boricua, a heritage tourism initiative dedicated to promoting community development and economic growth on the island.

Presented byVoyturisTeando.com and Compania de Turismo Puerto Rico, the four-month event aims to draw more than 50,000 people with Puerto Rican heritage back to the island. Multiple events are scheduled throughout the summer to support across the island’s municipalities, including the first Puerto Rican Day parade in San Juan on May 18.

Puerto Rico’s tourism industry is critical to the island’s economy, generating revenue and employing nearly 100,000 people in 2023. Bringing people to live and play on the island is vital for its cultural richness and economic sustainability. TOTE is pleased to be a corporate ambassador for the event to create a meaningful impact on the island’s financial future.

“We believe in the potential of Puerto Rico and its people,” said Eduardo Pagán, vice president & general manager of TOTE Maritime Agency Puerto Rico. “Our support of Junte Boricua is a testament that fits well with TOTE’s investment in organizations and initiatives that promote community growth and economic development. By investing in the island’s future, we are investing in a brighter future for those that live, work, and do business in Puerto Rico.”

“A vibrant community and a robust economy go hand in hand,” shared Peter Santiago, vice president of commercial of TOTE Maritime Agency Puerto Rico. People who choose to make Puerto Rico their home or vacation destination contribute to local businesses, create jobs, and stimulate economic activity, which is necessary for the island’s long-term prosperity.”
